I started taking piano lessons when I was 7 years old, and am now 32 (or will be on July 25th). You do the math. Needless to say, I’ve been playing for a long time. I’m not perfect, and I don’t practice nearly enough anymore to be considered a ‘professional’ pianist, but I still enjoy it and will occasionally record something. I also play the piano for the local high school’s choir, and have stumbled across a YouTube page that regularly documents each choir performance.
Here is “La Campanella,” a rather difficult piece by Franz Liszt and also one of my favorites to play. Please do me a favor and ignore the video itself. Just close your eyes and listen. It’s much better that way, I promise.
Here is my cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” I really like this song, and though I don’t do it justice with my singing, I like the piano bit, too.
And here is one of the songs I accompanied for the Greenway High School choir, called “The Awakening.” If you’d like to see more of the high school videos, click on the name of the user who uploaded the video – Doomestrings – and then you can see all of the videos they’ve posted. I don’t play for all of the concerts nor all of the songs as there are several accompanists, but I’m definitely in there.
