Meet Gray

2 8 13

As a wife, mother of 2, classroom assistant in a Special Needs Preschool, Choir teacher, and pianist for the local high school, I don’t have a whole lot of time on my hands. However, when I do find a spare moment or two (read: when I’m being lazy and shirking my chores), I enjoy crocheting. I love trying new patterns and experimenting with my own.

When I’m not crocheting or running around like a madwoman, I enjoy reading, horseback riding, playing the piano, and watching movies or tv with my family.

I hate cooking, but do it anyway for the necessity of survival, and I also hate doing dishes. Actually, the hate list is a lot longer, so I’m just going to say that I strongly dislike doing chores of any kind, as I would much rather sit around and work on crochet projects all day.

Come join me on my crochet journey, and let’s make something beautiful together.

Yes, this is a pitiful “About” page; hopefully I’ll eventually manage to get something decent up here.

Hey! Thanks for following my blog! We sound pretty alike! I’m not a mum, but aside from that – I’m a musician – piano player and teacher, and I love my crochet (though I’m still so new at it), I work with people with disabilities part of the time. And my maiden name is Gray :P. A match made in heaven methinks! I look forward to reading more of your blog 🙂

Gray is actually just a nickname; my real name has nothing to do with colors. ^_^ But yes! We sound incredibly similar, and it’s always nice to meet other people who share more than one hobby or interest. How long have you been playing the piano? I started when I was 7, which seems like about a million years ago.

Haha I assumed as much, just a little coincidence :). I started about the same age, I think. 6 or 7, probably. I burned out hugely after I finished all my exams, I think I was 16 and I didn’t even touch the piano for about a year! Couldn’t live without it these days though, you can just kind of float away and forget the world. So nice to find someone around here that I have stuff in common with! Your crochet is so pretty, how long have you been crocheting? Haha I’ve only been at it a few months but I just love it.

I don’t think I ever REALLY stopped playing the piano, more like I just slowed down after I stopped taking private lessons in college. I got married and had a family and just didn’t have the time to devote to it that I used to. Now it’s just for fun, and it gives me the chance to work with the high school choir as well as to play for my own grade school choir kiddos. As far as crocheting goes, both of my grandmothers would sit down with me and show me different stitches. So I’ve known how to crochet since I was about 10 or so. But I never got heavily into it until about two years ago or so, and that was interspersed with sewing, as well. Now all I do is crochet, though I did recently buy a knitting kit that I have yet to even open. I want to learn to knit in the worst way. We’ll see what happens, I guess!

  4. Hellooooo! Thank you so much for the nomination. It was very kind of you to think of me and I’m so pleased you like my blog. I’ll be breaking the rules slightly (I know, naughty, naughty) but I’m a born rule breaker due to lack of time 😉 I’ll post about the award this weekend. Thanks for writing a lovely uplifting, colourful blog! Avis xxx

But… breaking the rules is fun! At least, little rules, anyway. ^_^ I’ll look forward to your post whenever you have time to make it. And thank you for the wonderful comment!
